Infertility for Dummies

When I first started looking at infertility blogs I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of acronyms and abbreviations I was encountering. So as I go through and figure things out, I will update this list as a useful resource to other infertile newbies! Feel free to email me if you find anything else that should be added to the list at lifeofmissconception@yahoo.com.

BBT: Basal Body Temperature - this is your temperature taken first thing in the morning, before you move, pee, get out of bed or speak. Writing down your BBT each morning of your cycle helps to determine when/if you are ovulating and how long your cycles are. There is a special thermometer called a Basal Body Thermometer that is especially sensitive to slight changes in temperature that is helpful for charting your BBT. They can be found at drug stores.
