What Worked for Me

Just thought I would throw together a quick page about what I was doing when I got my VERY unexpected BFP:

S.outh B.each Diet - Phase 1
This stage involves NO carbohydrates, including bread, sugar, fruit, even some vegetables such as carrots and corn. It keeps your blood sugar from spiking and plummeting and reduces the body's dependence on insulin.

No Caffeine
I was drinking absolutely no caffeinated beverages, with the exception of a couple of cups of decaf coffee one weekend.

No Alcohol
I consumed absolutely no alcohol during this time.

Prenatal Vitamin
I've been taking the Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal Vitamin (found at V.itamin W.orld). It's one you take three times a day, which I read was good because it allows more time for your body to absorb the nutrients. It also contains an organic fruit, vegetable and sprout blend. Plus, I didn't get any of those nasty fishy-tasting burps like from other prenatals I had tried.

Ovulation Predictor Kit
Beginning on the 10th day of my cycle (ten days after my period started) I started doing an OPK each day at roughly the same time, at least four hours after I had last gone to the bathroom.

Basal Body Temping
I was taking my basal body temperature first thing in the morning each morning. While it didn't help predict ovulation, it did help confirm it. It also helped to confirm my pregnancy.

Moderate Exercise
My exercise included hiking, walking, elliptical trainer and some light weight and resistance training. I tried to keep my heart rate at a safe level.
